 Teen Leadership 1998

The teen leadership program was started in 1997 when we realized we had a number of teens who wanted to be a part of the British Bible Camp but were getting too old to be a part of the camp as campers. The goal of the program is the same as that of the camp which is:

"To train and develop Christians and Christian leaders for the church in Britain, while reaching out to non-Christians in a quality God centered atmosphere which encourages spiritual growth."

The first year was somewhat experimental. We plugged the teen leaders into several different roles at the camp and gave them a chance to give the camp board feedback as to what they enjoyed and did not enjoy.

At this year's camp, we are assigning the teen leaders to specific positions supervised by another adult leader. Again this year, there will be a time for the teen leaders to share their ideas with the camp board.

Ramp completion

During the summer of 1998, a group of teens from Wales and Scotland came to Nashville. This  trip was a part of the British Bible Camp Teen Leadership program. The following are some of the things they participated in while in Nashville: Impact at Lipscomb University, Jubilee at the Nashville Convention Center, helping construct a wheelchair ramp for The Center For Independent Living, Short Mountain Bible camp, Camping at The Great Stone Door state park, youth activities with Portland and Antioch churches, worship services at Woodmont Hills, Antioch, and Vultee churches. They also helped put together the camp materials for this summer's British Bible Camp.

As a part of this same program, Asa Winstanley developed this web site for the Great Britain Mission program as well as helping develop some pages for Lipscomb University.

The teens were responsible for raising most of the funding for the trip and activities, but several individuals, churches, and organizations provided some supplemental funds. A special thanks you to each of you who helped in this way as well as those who committed time to help with this program.

We will be evaluating the success of this summer trip. Other events of a similar nature will be organized in the future.
